Some additional details have been put together regarding the Top Shops Improvements. These future enhancements will play a key role in shaping the ambience, accessibility, and character of Aireys Inlet.

The new project aims to create a relaxed and green coastal village space around the Aireys Inlet Top Shops. The plan is to enhance access, parking, and safety while making the area more attractive and functional.

What’s Planned?

  • Gateway Improvement: Making the entrance to the Top Shops more inviting.
  • Community Hub: Creating a space that encourages social interaction and gatherings.
  • Coastal Feel: Using shade trees and local plants for a natural atmosphere.
  • Optimized Space: Improving walking areas, seating, parking, and public transport access.
  • Sustainability: Implementing water sensitive urban design for environmental benefits.
  • Pedestrian Safety: Widening the footpath and enhancing pedestrian priority.

This project aligns with the 2015 Urban Design Framework and the planned works for a new pedestrian crossing between the Medical Centre and Top Shops, scheduled for October to November 2024.

Last week marked the end of the season for the Aireys Inlet Eels. Both the Under 10’s and Under 12’s had a fantastic season, and it was great to celebrate all the hard work put in by everyone involved at the Aireys Pub on Friday night. It was especially wonderful to have Greg Day at the Pub to sing the Aireys Eels theme song. This year was particularly special, as the Under 12 team, for the first time ever, fielded nearly as many girls as boys.
