APOLLO BAY- HERE & THERE

A new access point for trail users is now open at Point Bunbury, which runs adjacent to the golf course.

The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority closed the site following safety, cultural heritage and environmental concerns, with the community protesting in February last year for it to reopen.

GORCAPA has since collaborated closely with the Apollo Bay Golf Club and Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation to implement a safe and respectful way to keep the track open.

A new route – starting from the car park on Trafalgar Street – protects environmental and cultural values, while preventing further erosion and minimises public safety risks.

Bollards have been installed to outline the route across a section of the golf course, with safety netting and wayfinding signage to provide separation from the course.
